The recipient of honors such as the Apgar Award and the Superior Civilian Service Award, Wayne Schepens studied at the State University of New York Maritime College and then served as a licensed 3rd assistant engineer for the U.S. Coast Guard. Later, Wayne Schepens completed a master's degree in systems engineering at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.After working as a licensed professional engineer, Wayne Schepens turned to the security industry, gaining experience in network analysis and management. In 2006, he co-founded Soteria Network Technologies, later known as Lookingglass Cyber Solutions. He assisted with product marketing, messaging, press and analyst relations and sales while serving in the roll of vice president of W2 Communications.In 2015, Wayne Schepens launched his current company LaunchTech Communications, where he serves at managing director. He has also become a speaker on topics ranging from cyber threats and malware to risk management. Additionally, he co-founded the UMBC Cyber Hive and serves on the steering committee for SINET ITSEF and CyberMaryland.
